Schmallenberg Ski Jump
The trail winds along the Rothaarsteig mountain range through a forested mountainous landscape, which opens up in some places to offer magnificent views of the Sauerland landscape below. In addition, the sculptures along the Wittgenstein–Sauerland Forest Sculpture Trail catch the eye of hikers as they walk.
The trail begins in the center of the village of Schanze and follows the SZ4 hiking trail past the Kyrill-Pfad and the Krummstab toward the Rothaarsteig. On the Rothaarsteig, the trail continues toward Kühhude. In Kühhude, the trail branches off the Rothaarsteig to the east and continues along the circular cross-country ski trail. However, if you’d like, you can continue following the Rothaarsteig and hike to the “Stein-Zeit-Mensch” sculpture. The trail from Kühhude back to Schanze rejoins the Rothaarsteig at the “Kein leichtes Spiel” sculpture. From there, follow the trail to the intersection with the SZ3. At this junction, turn left toward Schanze and, after about 1.5 km, you’ll reach the village of Schanze again.
